It seems to me the Tama Bell Brass story is such that other manufacturers would be duplicating it. The Zildjian snare, for example. Is it comparable? Thousands of cymbals are broken, probably weekly. Could they be pooled for casting these prized shells? Could an owner/player give a "download"to the uninitiated?
Tama Bell Brass VS Zildjian VS ???
Paiste did this with the spirit of 2002 snare drums. They used sent back broken 2002 cymbals and re- casted them into these superb snare drums.
I am working on casting my own shell from my broken Zildjians. If it works I may offer it as a service....

I have a snare made from melted Zildjians - made by Joe Montineri years ago (I bought directly from him). As far as I know it's one of a kind. Great sounding drum! (also own the N&C's and a Spirit of 2002 - all cool but very different from each other)
