I just got home from a sweet gig with todays haul: 1965 Dynasonic, 60s 16" Zildjian crash, DW boom stand, a cowbell and an adapter to fit it onto a stand. It's all in great shape, the Dyna looks new and nothing is missing! It wasn't the "deal of the week" at $350, but still a pretty good price and all from the original owner. Pics to come and probably a question or 2, but I have to sleep before tomorrow mornings gig!

After 15 gigs in 17 days I finally get a day off (not that I'm complaining)! This is the Dynasonic in question. One or 2 of the snare wires have broken off, but they are still pretty usable until I find a set of Puresounds. It's a real pleasure to play! Both crispy and sensitive! As for dating, does 1965 sound right? The seller seemed to remember buying it in 1965. It looks the same as the one Buddy plays against Krupa in 1966, but I have so much to learn, so please "school" me on this! Pics of the 60's Zildjian to come. My daughter is getting impatient.

2 clues are assurance that the drum is not circa 1965 - the "blipped" tension rods and the elongated strainer. Elongated strainer introduced around 1967.

I found a Rogers Drum dating list online that states that in 1968 Dyna-sonics had serials 11xxx to 17xxx. Sound right?
