Is it safe to assume that a prior owner painted this Slingy badge? I can't find one like it in any of the Slingerland catalogues.
Slingerland "blue" Badge? Last viewed: 5 hours ago
It looks all splotchy like a hand paint job to me. The only colors I'm aware of Slingerland using in this era are black for Niles (like yours) and maroon for Shelbyville, TN-made drums.

the drum may have been re-lacquered, including the badge?
Maybe someone was trying to match it to some Leedy drums. It's weird how crude it looks but the detail between the raised lettering seems pretty much perfect. Vintagemoore, wouldn't that be a '63 and up badge since it's a Niles badge with a s/n?
