Glen-DrummerJOhn, et al,

I should clarify, I asked for this to occur as to not mislead anyone with a legitmate question, and wanted to place as minimal of an impact as possible on any half-cocked answer I may have given over the years.....lol. I guess the sarcasm font still isn't working yet....lol Also, Tommy and David never called me stupid or anything, at least not publicly!!LoLoLoLoLoLoLoLo

And yes Glen, I would love to get the Violin spruced up. I just have to make it back to Pittsburgh to do it! I am heading home over the 4th and will get hold of ya for the particulars around that time. Thanks for remembering!

Hey, screw humility! I-earned- the title! After 50 years playing, (1963) and 25 years of restoring, or repairing an average of a half dozen kits a year, plus having owned and operated my own music store in New York City for 5 years, plus another 6 years of learning and sharing on internet drum forums, then yes, I feel like I earned the title, Drum Guru!

Sorry to go against the grain, but I really like seeing 'Drum Guru' under my name. It's not an ego thing, I just 'feel like' I am a drum Guru. You'd be surprised how many peeps here pm me almost daily with questions. I don't know it all, not by a long-shot, but what I have learned I have always been willing to share with anyone who asked. I'm a big believer in the concept; You can't keep it unless you give it away!

John - Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler and Bona Fide VDF Drum Guru :D

Too many great drums to list here!

It means nothing,, it is a participation trophy nothing more than that !!! If I know the answer I'll answer the question, if not I will not ! I have been restoring vintage drums for 20 + years. on wood and metal drums. I don't pretend to know it all and never will. I learn something new on a regular basis, I have been playing since I was 7 years old hope to be able to do so until I'm dust in the wind.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

I just noticed that it says "vintage drum guru" under my name. I don't feel any different. I just checked the mirror and I'm still the same ugly cuss!So what's different? Well actually after several hundred posts and reading thousands and getting input, answers, comments, criticisms, info, I guess I have gotten a bit of an education over the past 4 years. I don't think I'm quite Guru status but I am very thankful for this forum. I've learned a great deal, and continue to learn, and I believe I've made some friends, gotten help, bought some nice pieces of gear, and have a place that I look forward to almost every day! Thanks VDF

Got that!

Unlike Purdie, I just didn't feel like a "Guru" much.

I don't mind a distinction for loyalty to the forum or participation but I wouldn't want someone to think my opinion is anything more than it is, opinion! I don't think I'm clueless with regard to vintage drums, just not quite guru status. Maybe jr. guru!

It's all just for fun.

Drum Guru? Not a one of us should claim that title. We are all just students of the instrument and hopefully a bit humble and view ourselves as such. Anything more would be egocentric. Loudmouthed Fred Flintstones ... blowhards ... not a very likable individual, I would think.
