Hi
Received old drums from a friend, he believes the kit is from 60's.
What brand / model are these?

Wow! This is a new one on me! I'm sure there's someone in VDF Land that will know!

Slotted drum tension lugs should make it easier to narrow down. The bass drum tension rods look familiar too, but that wrap screams MIJ, as does the metal bass drum hoop. Pretty interesting tom mount too, allen screws are used, didn't see that back then, makes me think it's a custom mount or original screws are gone. The tom mount kind of reminds me of a kit I had that was made by Mikey777's old boss in Orange County, they were called American Custom.
Thanks!
Was thinking about restoring, guess these drums won't worth much,
Should I just buy new?

I might be able to help identify them but the link wants me to sign in with google, which I don't do. Could you send a link that everyone can open?

Hi sorry for that, think it's fixed now.
(please let me know)
Thought I'd be kind with the forum's server and spare it the 20 pics (:
The slotted tension rods suggest German made, but I believe there were other European drums that were slotted as well. I know of no MIJ kits with slotted tension rods and I don't smell any MIJ there.
As far as what to do with these, I would say NO, don't dismiss it and go buy a different kit. Restore this one (especially with such a cool wrap!) The fact that it is a challenge to identify speaks to its rarity (I would think). Once you get some European drum enthusiasts discovering this thread, they will likely be thrilled at the find.
I say enjoy the process and result of a thorough restore (NO STEEL WOOL!)
Very cool!

Well, another forum stated it might be a 60's yamaha's kit,
it also came with yamaha's cymbal stands, and paiste cymbals
Wow!! I think that's the nicest wrap I have ever seen!! I don't recall seeing floor tom leg brackets like those on MIJ kits. The tom mounts do look almost like early versions of Yamaha ones, though. The wood grain in the bass drum seems to run horizontally, not vertically like on cheaper MIJ kits. And for sure the slotted T-rods suggest europe.
Amazing! Im thinking Tacton, RKB, Trowa, Amati????...Maybe the euro friends could shed some light...
