How many of you are making the pilgrimage to L.A. to see the "Ringo: Peace & Love" exhibit at the Grammy Museum? "Ringo: Peace & Love" will be located on the second floor and will include:

[*]The drum kit Ringo played on Let It Be, Abbey Road, and The White Album

[*]The drum kit he played on The Ed Sullivan Show

[*]Ringo's Sgt Pepper Suit

[*]The cape he wore in Help!

[*]The red jacket worn during the filming of The Beatles' rooftop concert

[*]Personal letters, photographs and documents from the Starkey family and Ringo's days with The Beatles

And, who better to make sure everything is done right than to have Gary Astridge of ringosbeatlekits.com oversee everything? Gary sent me a note yesterday and wrote that, "I am in L.A. right now and believe it or not I am here to document, disassemble, clean, reassemble and set up Ringo's Sullivan and maple kits." How COOL is that?

The red jacket he wore on the rooftop of Abbey Road Studios was actually his wife's ,Maureen (sp?).

It was colder then expected (January 30th,1969) so she gave it to him to wear....

"Always make sure your front bottom BD lugs clear the ground!"

That's a cool Ringo site. I didn't know he had that many BOP kits. Lots of work and research into that and his cymbals too. Interesting. Ringo has always been a fav of mine. Wish I still had all the Beatle stuff I bought as a kid. I remember watching them on Ed Sullivan too. Bowing

I will definitely go before the exhibit ends. And please if you can tell us if its the actual 5.5x14 snare he's been using all these years. I'm so glad they found the right person to clean and set up the drums.

I hate it when you go to see a musical instrument of historical value and its set up wrong, or over restored.

Despite the bop downbeat being the iconic set, I really want to see the Hollywood in thermo gloss.

I wonder if it will be set up stock with bass mounted toms with resonators, or like it was on the rooftop?

Yes, it's me. Thank you very much for using the Big Rock! It seems the Big Rock has become a classic product since it was introduced in 1989.

BTW, the Sapphire is an excellent turntable!
