ive got a heap of acros, but i too have a 67! 67 was the first catalog that an acrolite was shown as a part of a kit,that i recall. it had been shown in a few prior catalogs as a stand alone snare drum. clubdates had previously been shown in the 60's catalogs with jazz festivals,then pioneers in 64, and with the acrolite in 67. maybe this increased the production of acrolites in 67,as it appears many of us own one...

Ive got a 1966 Acro that I use currently. I love the sound of it! Very versatile drum for sure. Mine isn't much of a show room piece, but dang it sounds great!
Funny story- I used another fella's DW drumkit at a gig last weekend at Floyd's Seafood in Webster,TX because it was easier on the sound guy running the show... Anyhow, the owner of the kit seemed slightly offended that I didnt want to use his "$900 David Garibaldi piccolo snare". I said, "naw, I'm cool with my $150.00 Acrolite!!"

Mrboombip- thanks! I really like the kit a lot and am glad I chased down the drums and parts to make this second slingy kit. It feels more natural for me to play these sizes compared to my 20", 12", bass and tom on my other outfit. Either way, I just love that Slingerland sound!

The brushed aluminum Acrolites look awesome and they can go with any kit. Actually, my son has been choosing his 1970 Acrolite over his Supra, Gretsch 4165, Jazzfest Repro and Rogers Luxor for his recent Jazz Band performances.
WMP Slingys look wonderful. The shape of the chrome lugs reflecting against the WMP wrap really pop.

There was a thread on Acro's a year or so ago... I'm pretty sure the consensus was that everyone should have at least nine or so of 'em. I have a few, and use 'em all.
I really like that 'hue' on your WMP kit. I've never been a huge fan of WMP, but when I see it like that, with the 'cream' thing going on... well, that does indeed howl vintage. If I could find a kit like that, with that hue, I'd probably even buy it, maybe... Or at least think about it!

Webster, Tx is pretty much a suburb of Houston. It is located along IH45 and borders League City, Friendswood, and Houston. It is right at Nasa Rd 1 and Ih45. I live just south in Santa Fe, Tx
Thanks Tim and Fishwaltz! I've had good luck finding Wmp drums that aren't too mellowed :). I've always loved wmp, but am partial to the hues that are more marine pearl than yellow.

Sounds good my man! Hopefully ill be off of work during your visit and we will have to meet up. Yea, I played an outdoor gig there at Floyds Seafood last weekend. Right the frontage road next to Hooters and Papas BBQ. Good times! ...and yes, bring some of your drums!
