Have a Dynasonic with s/n in 12xxx range.Seems to be complete condition and was serviced by previous owner. No other interior tags or dates. Any ideas as to the date of manufacture? Thanks.

What exactly was done when "serviced". I think that sounds about right for the date. If you do a search of the forum, aww heck I got bored here's some help.
Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

1967 to 1968 is what my dating guide shows, but we all know that there's no hard, fast rule on Dyna serial numbers, because assemblers on the snare line were grabbing random badges from bins at the same time those same oval Dyna badges were being attached to marching bass and tenor drums. This accounts for a lot of missing numbers on Dyna snares.

You guys are ALL right in there. I have a pretty refined/accurate listing on Dynasonic dating.. ( 60's era especially ) .. as I was involved in doing the compilation of this data originally. That said... 1967/1968 would indeed be the date on this drum! As to "what" was serviced, well... that's a horse of a different color! BTW:
mchair303!... quite correct you are in your assessment.. still .. this is about as accurate as anyone is going to get. Certainly close enough for government work!
