Does anybody use an old Ghost pedal, for some reason I have become interested in these they look very forward thinking for their day. I would appreciate any input on performance etc.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I use one now & then, & like it just fine. They're a bit complicated to adjust tension, & the hoop clamp's a pita, but it's a cool pedal, & feels good underfoot. Those who know don't recommend taking the caps off since the coil springs can get away from you. There's a website dedicated to them.......marko
ive got a couple in my collection, one ludwig and one pre ludwig. they are just too bulky feeling to me. don't enjoy playing them at all. most people seem to dig them however.

My trusty Ghost that I've been using since 1968 took some hits on my last road trip and fell apart. Luckily, I had a back up which was purchased several months ago from fellow VDF member BFulton who does a great job refurbing Ghosts and Speed Kings. In 40 plus years I've never had to re-adjust the tension on the coil springs.(The linkage and fasteners wore out.) The pedal has a similar feel as the Speed King with several exceptions. It doesn't get loose and make any mechanical noises and it never squeaks. It also has a generous footboard and plenty of room between the posts. It's the perfect pedal if you use both heel up and heel down technique IMHO.
Thanks for the replies folks, so it seems I will have to try and find one and give it a whirl, not so easy a task in the UK but I'll find one
I like mine, but it's to bulky and hard to set up so I leave it at home on my practice kits.V

Oh man, your ghost gave up the ghost?! All joking aside the great thing about these old pedals is they can be rebuilt.
I'm a dw 5000 turbo guy. The ghost was fast and had great control for playing softer, but I felt it lacked the catapult like action the speed king had. (I was using the stock short shaft giant felt beater.)
I traded my pre Ludwig ghost for A pair of 15" Paiste sound edge hi hats.
