Help Identify Old Ludwig Weather Master snare?

Loading...

Hello everyone, I have a cool old looking snare drum and am trying to figure out what era it is from and what it is worth. Any help would be appreciated. I listed it on eBay and someone emailed me saying that it is most likely a 1925 snare drum so I decided to end the auction early to find more about the item. Can anyone confirm this based on the pictures? Here is the completed listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ludwig-Snare-Drum-Weather-Master-14-x-5-/130885996578?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e7969d022

As you can see in the pictures there are some patent #'s on the snare heads but its otherwise unmarked.

Thanks!!

It looks like an early 1920s Ludwig & Ludwig Universal Model or something like that...there should be a stamp on the top rim that would say Ludwig & Ludwig Universal Model or Pioneer Model...

The drum head is a Weather Master head, not the name of the drum.

Hope that helps.

Yes, unfortunately, this is a 'budget' model, having only 6 lugs. I would expect you could get $200 or so. That said, some people really like 6 lug drums, and the right buyer might be willing to go somewhat higher.

Good luck.
