bf - looks to be -machine-pressed- nothing to fret over. I don't think the badge was ever removed. The area surrounding the grommet is pristine/untouched. That's a factory job.

Looks original to me. That's how they did snare drums although I have seen them on toms and bass drums when they apparently were out of stock on tacks and bass drum grommets.
