I am no expert but it sure looks like a COB supra to me. With the crimped snare beds, the heavy weight of the shell and what looks like a seam, I'd say it's a COB. For $200.00? That's awesome, Great buy!

Hi, in one of the photo's under the badge gromet there is a SONOR ink stamp on the shell.

Don't forget that imperial lugs were not designed by Ludwig but first appeared on Sonor drums and were copied by Bill Ludwig. I am sure this is still a great drum but i don't think it is all original, best wishes Chris.

That's a Sonor stamp alright. Good eye! Must be Ludwig parts on a Sonor shell. The shell shows signs where the grommet was replaced. Probably to add the Ludwig badge. It looks like they used a Dremel to sand off the flange on the back of the original badge. I'm only going by the streak pattern when I make the guess it was a Dremel. Looks like the kind of a mark/fine streaks, that a small, high-speed Dremel sanding wheel would leave behind. I suspect somebody tried to mimic (or maybe to fake,) a pre-serial 402. Still a great drum nonetheless! Can't beat it for the price either. For all intents and purposes, that's a brass 402, or the equivalent anyway.

What about the -obvious- damage inside the shell around the grommet? That badge was removed or changed at some point. If you look closely enough, you'll see the ring left from the old flange. Why would anyone remove/replace a badge on a 402?
