>Did not know that "Purdie" played for The lovin spoonful.

Do not want this turning into more than it was... I 'subbed' for Joe Butler winter of 67' for two weeks. We had the same producer, (Elan Associates) so when Joe needed a sub, I got called in. Two weeks work, mostly gigs at the Cafe' Wha? One gig in Long Island at a country club for rich, corporate types and one gig at some dive of a bar on the East Side, in Alphabet Land, I don't even recall the name of the place. (11th Street and Ave. A. Anybody remember that joint?)

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Back in the mid-late 90's, I was in a blues band, here in AZ. Chico Chism, one of Howlin' Wolfs drummers in the 70's, and an AZ Blues Ambassador, used to sit in with us. Sometimes he'd just sing, sometimes he'd play and sing. That was pretty cool. Cool dude, as well. I always liked that he'd nod his head in time with me and smile. Good stuff.

In 1966 in San Diego Ca. when I was a runny nosed 14 yr. old, my band played a local TV dance show called TV 8 Dance Time.

We played 1 song (She's About A Mover by Sir Douglas Quintet) and right after we played the main guest(s) performed. That was Sonny & Cher complete with his furry vest. We chatted with them for a bit. Cher was very shy.

Man that was a long time ago!

Interesting that they would have done that local show, seeing that their big hit "I Got You Babe" charted the previous year in 1965.

(Hope Sonny wasn't wearing real fur !)

Yeah, TV8 Dance Time was a big deal in SD. They were doing their version of American Bandstand and attracted the likes of Len Barry 1-2-3 Glen Campbell and later the Turtles.

When I tell folks that I opened for Sonny & Cher (Ha! 1 song) I usually get the "Yeah right look".

Now this will be a great thread, hope they dont delete it. I once jammed with Jude Cole. Whos Jude Cole? Ah,, I forgot. No, he was a gutair player for my buddies band who went on to record some records but must not have gotten too big. Anyone heard of him?Did not know that "Purdie" played for The lovin spoonful.Louis Bellson used to live right down the road from me, went to my high school. I know a guy who has his double bass Remo kit.Thats it. Oh wait, I was in a big room with Ringo also.

You must live in the Quads! I like Jude's stuff, JR Robinson played on most of it.

I was very lucky to be in a kinda popular band In Oklahoma in the mid to late 60's we opened for the Yardbirds, the Who, Hermans Hermits, Mitch Rider and the Detroit Wheels and a bunch of other bands . I got to know Kieth Relf singer of the Yardbirds pretty well and we went Rabbit hunting and hung out when they were in OKC.. Got to meet Jimmy page and Jeff beck and all the who members except John Entwhistle he was pretty reclusive but the best story was when we opened 3 gigs for the Who the last night was Kieth Moons Birthday and he was turning 21 they bought him a cake and presented it just before they played My Generation he grabbed handfulls and threw it all over the crowd it was hilarious then they destroyed their stuff, If my memory was better I could tell all sorts of stories..lol Oh Kieth Moon also had Carnal Knowledge with my girlfriend at the time no sure if that is a good story or not ..... ahhhh the 60's
