The one snare I should buy,...

From Slingalud

Well The reason I say it would be a no-brainer (For me anyway) is because it not only appears to be in great condition, the price is totally reasonable for how rare it is. If I had your set and saw this snare drum up for sale I would have bought it already! But that's just me...

I hate to inform you of this, but its not just you. This is the drum hoarders hall of fame you are addressing!

Guys,I don't recall which of our VDF brothers it was but,he paid substantially more for a 60's Ludwig Jazzfest in Oyster Black or Blue Pearl. The drum was in spectacular condition,he said the oyster pattern on the snare matched his kit perfectly, and had been chasing one for a long time.

I guess,Like John said,if the drums is that rare, especially in that condition,if you have the cash go for it.These instruments are truly worth what someone will pay for them.

A guy on the DFO forum a while back, paid 7K for a 70's Downbeat snare in citrus mod.Till then,I had never seen one.

Can we Congratulate you? I see it sold.

Yes Slingalud, it's on its way across The Atlantic with a short stop in LA. (Thank you Aaron 'elmoonlightdrummer'!)

It had to happen so I sold my early 70's Rogers kit to fund it.

Call me nuts,... a 4-piece beauty for 1 snare,...

This whole thing happened in a very sad period as my dad passed away 5 days ago. The long and late hours behind the computer, trying to close the deal, was kind of a therapy I guess.

Anyway, thank you guys for all your support and the valuable comments.

Stedi, First, I'm terribly sorry to hear of the passing of your father.

It's great that you made the deal on the snare and it sounds like you had to make a big decision to make it possible. It sounds like your passion of drums helped you get through one of life's big hardships and you managed to put a family of drums together that belong together. My sincere condolences go out to you and your family.

Stef I am really sorry to hear of your loss. Any decision at a time like this would be a tough one. I hope and pray we didn't push you into something that wasn't right.

Wait until you hear it, you'll love it right away and no ringy overtones to deal with.

Stedi, terribly sorry about your pop. Can't imagine what it's like. Hopefully there's no buyer's remorse (or seller's remorse). Glad the focus on the dealings was therapeutic for you.

Thoughts are with you.
