WOW! I'm fluent in both Ebonics and Gibberish and I had trouble with that one... Mind Blowi

(yo.)

So to take it further (if I'm understating this), you ship an overseas package to an intermediary, US based freight forwarder, run by eBay (what DON'T they run?), and they forward it to the receiving party who does all the necessary paperwork?

If that is true, I need to pay attention to the annoying e-mails and pop ups eBay inundates me with all the time...

I think eBay is the new organized crime racket for the new mellinium...Cool Dude

Not sure I trust this new system.. I will probably continue to offer international shipping as long as possible and fill out forms myself. I don't like the idea of eBay acting as a "middle man" or import jobber or whatever you want to call it. It could only result in added costs to both the buyer and seller. The buyer has to pay possibly unnecessary customs fees up front (USPS generally is very lenient and the customs offices of most destination countries would generally just follow the "gift" and whatever dollar amount filled in by the seller whereas this would be done likely "by the book" and amounts would be considered retail sales, and they would have to pay according to the sales price and possibly the total including shipping costs). The seller, who now must pay fees according to sale price PLUS shipping costs, now has to pay eBay even more out of the amount paid from buyer. Another distinct disadvantage to buyer and seller is the fact that everything has to stop at another location, one sometimes totally out of the way, and subject items to potential damage through unnecessary and possibly redundant package handling en route.

I think I can see the advantages to eBay: 1)they can transform all sellers into potential international sellers 2)they get a larger fees amount from every international transaction 3)They can potentially grow their market share as has been previously noted from Amazon and other international sellers. 4)They get customs jobber's fees from each transaction.

The advantage to the customs offices of the various destination countries would be a more streamlined customs process whereby they entrust all that stuff's customs fees to be paid in a lump sum by ebay (buyers) and just rush the merchandize to the mailing system to be delivered.

Ebay does the paperwork based on the information provided by the buyer and seller via the transaction records.

first of all im sorry for the gibberish etc, next of all its exactly that if you take the time to read the new f-bay shipping options you'd understand it better to my understanding and hope that my key board holds up as its broke, there is a intermediate shipper that receives the shipment from the seller (they receive payment from buyer) in the states and then they handle all the rest, they get the monies from the buyer and pay u in paypal (then u ship)and give you a international tracking # now if this is not clear i'am just done with this

and ty Jonh for trying to help me out here gary

Gary - No worries. I'm used to reading your posts and it just takes a careful read to figure it out. You write in 'stream of consciousness' (as you think in your head,) with no punctuation, so it does take a little effort on the readers part to sus it out. But it's all there... I get you.

You're a good guy and you -always- make relevant contributions to the forums.

It's all good bro.

I think gary just wanted to pass on his experience with the new over seas shipping service from ebay, pretty simple to understand. I dont ship anything anywhere but if some of you are happy with the way you ship then thats good to hear to. I think it was nice of Gary to make us aware of the service.

Thank you Gary!

Thank you!

No problem reading your first post this is the internet not English class most people on the net have never had a formal typing lesson your post was fine the information was there and I got it ... thanks

This is a good option as they make themselves responsible after they recieve the package I like that as I have always told people who managed to talk me into shipping international that once it leaves the states I am no longer responsible because i have no recourse in another country .

Also there is a huge difference in shipping costs I sent a package to the us border it cost 35 bucks the same package by the same carrier 129 bucks and it would only go 8 miles ****her but across a border what a rip off......

edit the forum will not let me spell f a r t h e r

A link to the eBay announcement saves you having to describe it yourself

http://announcements.ebay.com/2012/11/attention-sellers-upcoming-program-will-make-selling-internationally-as-easy-as-domestic/

What I can't yet tell is if this program has been rolled out, or if it is still in testing. The help system on eBay is remarkably poor. I often have to resort to google to make my way into it, and in this case I didn't find evidence that the new overseas shipping program is fully operational or still in pre release testing.

Anybody else found the info?

I suspect this is going to be an expensive option. It's already expensive to ship to here and with more ticket clippers in the middle will probably get a lot worse.
