Slingerland Floor Tom Question

Loading...

Several years ago I picked up a 1958 White Marine Pearl (WP) Slingerland Radio King kit. For some reason, the floor tom that was included with the kit was from a later year. My goal since the kit was purchased was to replace the floor tom with one from the late '50s. Little did I realize how "challenging" that effort would become.

After countless searches I was about to give up on the idea. However, a short time ago, I was fortunate enough to find exactly what I was looking for in an Atlanta CL post and I purchased a matching late 50s WMP Radio King floor tom.

Based on my recent purchase I plan on selling the 60s WMP Slingerland floor tom. I estimate its date of manufacture to be somewhere between 1966 and 1970 due its "chocolate milk" coated interior shell and the serial number on its black and brass Niles badge (165786).

The question I've got is whether this particular drum would have been factory-issued with COB or COS rims? I'm not exactly sure when the company stopped supplying COB rims on its toms. If anybody can provide this information I'd be extremely grateful. I've attached several pics of the drum.

THANKS in advance for your help.
