ha ha thanks
i guess its not COB either
Definitly sweatshop Slingerland!
Definitely MIT. And... talk about rod splay!
I'm thinking it's Taiwanese. I have one more or less identical to it. The lugs and hoops are all knock offs of the original Slingerland Chicago castings but are of a lesser quality alloy. The tolerances of the parts and fittings are far from what I'd consider "quality product". The shell is technically steel but closer overall to sheet metal and has a higher than normal timbre. However, the chrome plating is quite good in appearance, the counterhoops are nice, as are the tension rods. Pretty decent "generic" style throwoff. The drum tunes up fine, and it plays OK in comparison to many others. I strongly recommend it NOT be disassembled completely for cleaning/restoration because the poor parts tolerances make it not want to go back together. Biggest problem I have had in regards to disassembly is that the internal lug threaded nut receivers were cast with lack of quality control, so that about 25% of them have hexagonal bases too small to fit snugly into the recesses on either end of the lugs, resulting in their tending to "spin" rather than seat inside the lug. Also problematic are the lug screws which are just barely threaded into the castings. Am I too critical? DOH

No..just telling it like it is... (But they are a step up on similar priced snares of the Day).
Cheers
Yup, I have a MIT Brass over Brass Sling piccolo and the Zoomatic is really really hokey.
Someday I'll replace it, but yes you can do worse.
