50's-60's Gretsch R/B toms/bass drums

From kevins

I'm just curious why someone would think they had bought an item when they got no notification that they had?I'd assume the opposite, I do believe? The seller would surely seek one out for their money if they intended to sell it to a party? Two cents......., I got no dog in this hunt.

Kev - Mick is a neighbor and friend of mine. He emailed me right away after ordering a floor tom from Mikey because he was happy to have found a drum to complete his RB kit and because he responded so quickly after the ad was posted, he made the same assumption that anyone would make... that he got his order in, in-time. He expressed his concern to me that Mikey never acknowledged his (timely) response/order. Mick even made excuses for him saying that; "Oh he must be real busy filling and shipping orders, I'll give him a little time to acknowledge my order." The point is; If I had ordered/reserved one of these drums within an hour or two of the ad being posted; I too would have 'assumed' that I got my order in on time, and I would have been waiting for some kind of confirmation. Which, in Mick's case, never happened.

This is not the first time that Mikey's business practices have been called into question. Phil, if you know something about Mikey that we all should know, then you need to share it. You make it sound like he's using a secret identity because he has something shady to hide. You can't attack someone's character like that without substantiating it, which you have not done. It's not right/fair to make an accusation without providing proof for same.

Just my two cents... Mikey 'should have' sent pm's to everyone who ordered a drum and wasn't going to get one. I questioned the veracity of the offer from jump street. I couldn't say anything because it was only a gut feeling, I had no proof. Phil says that he has found proof of deception. I'd like to hear what it is. As I mentioned earlier, this isn't the first time a dedicated 'complaint thread' has been started about Mikey by VDF members. Time to get this resolved.

What deal? That's what's in question here. Shutting down the thread only insures that there will be another one down the road.

Again, this isn't the first time that VDF members have complained about this guy. What's -your- stake in this? Let it take its course. People have legitimate complaints about their dealings with Mikey. It's important to find out if there is any real fire behind all the smoke. If the discussion bothers you so much... stop reading the thread.

From Phil Veritas

Well, good morning to you all, or afternoon, or whatever. First off Mr. Roundbadgedude, I was not complaining about missing out on the deal. I wasn't even a member here until well after this offer was made. I was simple referencing the facts that had been made previously in this thread and how they could lead someone to the conclusion that there were no drums for sale in the first place. This, Mr. Snurf, should be a concern to the entire forum. If somebody, anybody is making fraudulent claims in their offers. I think the well intentioned members should be aware of who they are dealing with and not have it hidden away in a PM just because it makes you uncomfortable.Mr. Roundbadgedude, I have read almost ever post that Mikey777 has made on this forum and I will be the first to admit he knows a great deal about vintage drums and has provided many, many members with parts they probably couldn't have gotten without him. I'd even go as far as to say that I am convinced that he is a great asset to this forum, as long as one sticks to actual vintage drums and their several parts. But, once he starts in on his personal stories they are, I'm sorry to say, complete fabrications. I can say this without reservation because I have done my research and have managed to find out who Mikey777 really is.Mikey777, I have no intention of outing you here on this board. I've given it a great deal of thought, and although you may be a liar when it comes to your personal life, I can't find where you've ever cheated anyone. And, as I said before, you are a great asset to this forum. I'll leave it at that for now, Mikey, but remember, the Internet only provides so much anonymity and anyone who knows what they're doing can find out pretty much anything they want. You may think you can get away with coming on a board like this and making yourself out to be someone a great deal better than you really are. But the facts about your truly pathetic existence are out there if your know where to look.Oh, and one more thing before I sign off here. Mikey777, is English your native language? If so, where the hell did you go to school?Philly (Mr. Know-It-All) Veritas

I read this one and several others that were posted by Mikey777 and for some reason things just don't add up. So, I've been doing a little research. Just so you'll know, I'm a retired newspaper reporter that worked for many, many years at the largest newspaper in Orange County, CA. So, I'm used to digging up facts. And usually when my instincts tells me there's something wrong, they're right. So, this thread... Mikey777 said he was posting these 40 drums on this forum before he put them on ebay, so this was his only source for buyers. He said that he would sell them on a first come first served bases and apparently he sold all 40 drums within 2 hours, exclusively to members of this forum. Yet nobody on this forum seems to have purchased any. Mikey777, what happened to the 40 drums? Did you ever really have them? His Christmas Present story has some questionable math to it also. He states he left at 1:30 am and he dropped off the last set at 7:00 am. So let's see, that's 5.5 hours to drive 500 miles. So, Santa/Mikey777, you were doing 100 mph and your brother was throwing the sets off the back of the truck while you sped by?I don't know Mikey777. Maybe you just like to exaggerate, or maybe you flat out lie. You've got me curious now and I'm going to have to do a little more research.

Wow, you've been busy the past 4 days....!

Unless you started reading before you joined on the 26th of December.....

1200 or so posts a day....?

Shoot, let's jut call it 1000.... at 30 secs per post.... I know, a bit long, but you would need to read the entire thread, not just Mikey's post to make any sense of them.....

So 500 minutes.... 8 hrs+ per day for four days straight.........??

I'm calling bull**** on that one.

When was that stated?.... "exclusively to members" and the "only source for buyers before going to eBay"?

If I missed it, I apologize..........

Who gives a crap how long it took him to do it, at least he did it, or are you saying that's a fabrication?

i have dealt with mikey777 in the past. i have missed out on a bunch of cool stuff he's had for sale. ive even tried getting in touch with him and have had no response on some things.

im not going to cry about it.

most of us have lives outside this forum. families, business to tend to, etc.

sorry if this isnt everyone's primary focus day to day.

you guys just sound like petty babies complaining.

if Mikey was a problem we wouldnt have had thousands of sales on here.

if he was a problem we wouldnt have acquired every dang part known to man.

it seems everyone gets their panties in a bunch on here over the tiniest things.

ill bet u atleast 50% of the usual sellers on here have had a complaint thread started about them.

cant we just move on from this junk? the past year this place has become all crybabies.

If you don't know by now that this isn't about a "missed deal" and that your "mean girls" name calling tactics are useless, you really ought to just ignore or stay out of what doesn't concern you.

Then, he assumed wrongly, John.............

Thus, my question, why Assume at all ??

This reminds me every time of the same kind of disparaging threads started about Cherie Willoughby....

On eBay, she had around 4000+ sales a year, and six or so negative feedbacks, but that's nearly the only ones you hear about.

Think I'll send a few emails to Curroto and start waiting for my NOB 30s Ludwig Standards to come pouring in....

How long you think I should wait...???

Let me get this straight, did you or did you not send money to my good friend Mikey?

I did not send a penny to Mikey. I tried to contact him on 6 differen't occasions beginning within an hour(at least) or two(at most) of his original ad posting. I never heard from him regarding his ad one way or the other. I also never inferred that we had a deal. Finally, wondering how the folks who may have got any of these drums were progressing, I put up a post (#18) asking if anybody had pics. (figured somebody would have something to show off after six weeks)

It was at this point that Mikey got very defensive and accused Purdie Shuffle and perhaps me of "making him look bad" (you figure that one out)

Believe it or else!
