70's Premier help Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Loading...

I've looking to buy this kit from someone I know, but I have some questions. It is a Premier kit from the 70's with mahogany interiors. The wrap looks like sliver star (on the 73 catalog of finishes). The wrap is in decent condition with a few nicks here and there. The chrome is decent. Unfortunately he is missing one bass hoop. I don't know of any way of matching that finish. It looks like grooved aluminum foil.

Questions:

1 - any idea what model this is? I can't seem to figure it out.

2 - what's a good price to offer? Checked ebay and it's no help.

It's the best sounding set I've ever played. So I have to buy it. He almost sold it to me a while ago, but decided to keep it.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I would definitely buy those. Great drums! Then keep an eye on Ebay in the U.K. as Premier obviously is very common there. I've also seen a similar finish on MIJ drums from the 70s. Chances are that you'll find a decent match with some patience...

I think Premier drums are undervalued so prices are pretty soft. I recently paid the equivalent of $US380 for a 72 202 kit (20,13,16) with 2000 snare in Aquamarine shimmer. And that seems to be all the money here as there's another for sale at the same price (no snare) and he's getting no bites. This makes Premier drums really good value IMO.

Of course if it's the best sounding kit you've ever played then maybe it's worth what your friend wants.

I think you'll find a suitable solution to the BD hoop inlay - there may even be some sellers in England that can sell you that inlay and you could get a hoop from Drummaker maybe. The Mahogany interiors of the shells come up beautifully with some beeswax furniture polish too.

Good luck

I think that if you can get them for somewhere south of $400 it would be a good deal!

Looks like I'm not too off on price. I was thinking 450.

I'll have to keep an eye open for the rim. I didn't even think about checking ebay UK.

Any idea what model it is? Powerhouse?

Yes, Ebay UK for parts. The T's and claws should be easy from there too.

Yep, I'd say Powerhouse or B303 from 73' on.

Yes 400.00 to 450.00 is a great price for the set.Its that a bag of t-rods and claws to the right of the bass drum? If not i have the T-rods only but i also have a inlay piece for the bass drum hoop its off a M.I.J. set its red on one side and silver on the other....Mikey
