Questions about Slingerland Last viewed: 1 hour ago

I just picked up this 70s Slingerland (22,18,13) for a little money. On the bass drum there is a single extra hole! Anybody know if this is original or not?

Also The 13 had been spray painted (classy) and later sanded down. How do I treat this to get it back to the original color. Is it a varnish or lacquer? Grateful for help. I'm thinking of keeping these for a while and get to know them better...

it depends on where the hole is. my slingerlands have the vent hole on the bottom side of the drum... so maybe that could be? i am sure you will gett some other feed back, but location, size might help others help you out. cheers,

The vent hole for that bass is in the badge.

That's not a factory mounting hole for anything on a 70s Slingerland bass drum.

Looks like a mount for a cymbal arm, but not Slingy....

That's right! They popped up on CL and I called fast. I've realized that you have to be quick in Boston, quite a few of us drum nerds here!

The day before I bought a full set (minus the 18") of Rototoms for $100 so fortune has been with me this week. But, I wonder who ended up with the beautiful 80's Gretsch set for $275 last week!

Nice!!

Congratulations! That looked like a good score!

I'm glad someone here got them...I saw that ad this morning too and was kind of stumbling around saying, "Uh, uh...who needs these? Who can I tell about them? Someone has to grab them!"

Good luck with 'em!
