So even if it is faded Black Sparkle and not "Root Beer"... Black Sparkle is not one you run across every day either.
Ran across this while trying to float this Root Beer story...
[INDENT]" Ok folks, I need some help please. I have a put together Slingerland kit in what I was told is Black sparkle pearl that faded to Root beer sparkle?? Now I just got a copy of "The Slingerland Book" and it mentions in a side note that this could have been an uncataloged finish that was available for a short time in the early sixties. There's some plausibility there as that is the age of the drums. Someone also told me that the Bass drum was a floortom shell and could have been the "personal" set of an employee because Slingerland definitely didn't offer a bass drum in 20x18 back then. it wasn't converted because there is no evidence of the leg mount holes (nor filler). So, could an employee have snagged a 20" floor tom shell and made it into a bass drum with correct hardware tom mount plate etc....? And did Rootbeer sparkle finish really exist? Any info will be appreciated."
