Black Beauty, I'm doing it! Last viewed: 4 hours ago

So I've been waiting for some time and I think that time has come! I'm ready to purchase myself the grand-daddy of all snare drums, the black beauty. I think I found the one I want, 6.5x14, tube lugs, and it even comes with a case!

I just wanted to post the ad and get the OK from you fine folk on here. Can never be too careful with buying things off of the internet these days. What do you think?

It's a stunning drum. The ad is inconsistent with the photo: it says, 'Blue and Olive badge' but the photo shows a Monroe badge. Do you care which badge you get?

The tube lugs are going to help open up that drum's sound.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I have a Monroe badge with tube lugs that I'd be willing to let go for less than that. No case though.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

If you're gonna invest that kinda coin, why not go for a "real" black beauty? You know, a vintage one from the twenties...... ;)

I've not bought from them but, Rainbow has a legit brick and motar store....

The price is one of the lower ones I've seen, as most I've come across are at the M.A.P. which is at the $729 mark appearently for the LB417T.

The loweest I've seen the newer bags go for is the high $70's (78/79). I have three of those bags (1-B/O, & 2- "Heirloom" Bags), and really like them, but you do pay for that name!!!

See if you can leverage that deal/ price at another store for something lower (also if you're not in NV They aren't likely to collect your state tax)... but all-in-all it aint a bad deal.

Wow! That drum is about $100 more expensive than the same model anywhere else. $150 if you include shipping. Do you have a local 5 Star Drum Store in your neck of the woods?

LD - Because the real vintage ones from the 20's require you to refinance your house to buy one! Check the price on this one: (Yes, it's a Pooder! LOL)

Almost 10x's more than he'll pay for the modern one. I know, I'm with you, I'd rather have the real whammy-jammy myself, but who can afford them?

I think this one is so high because of the 4" depth. My 1929 14 x 5 BB is in just about the same condition as this one, and I paid $3200. Still a lot of cash though; but it sounds phenomenal.
