Wrong on most points again..Yes Hal was seesion player but their are others that played about as much as he did..Also yes he did play Ludwig but most of the toms were Fiberglass shell's with Ludwig hardwear on them...You should do your homework before you post....BTW do you think that Dennis Wilson was a better drummer than Hal??? Kook gives every appearance of being a young guy with strong beliefs about what he likes and doesn't like. I've been reading his posts when he starts a thread. Like all of us, he's learning. Kind of using us and the forum like a lab to fling some poop at the walls just to see what sticks. But it's a learning process and I think he's learning.
Two weeks ago, Kook would have verbally gutted you if you even suggested that Hal Blaine ghosted for Dennis Wilson. Now, he's acknowledging Hal's contribution. The man is now showing that he learned something!
Go easy. Room for everyone to learn and grow here. Bunch of old fahrts around here anyway, don't want to blow off any young bloods that show up. They're the next generation.

Hal was a masterful drummer (not that he still isn't). He played on a ridiculous number of hits (and not-hits). He is deserving of a discussion.
Hal's the reason why I still play and enjoy my Partridge Family albums.

Totally with you on celebrating Hal Blaine. He had a rare and swinging knack.
I think you cannot really talk about Hal Blaine's drumming achievements without also discussing Earl Palmer. Were he still alive, Palmer would be one year older than Hal. Between them they backed up many many great records. And god knows how many sessions that never saw light of day.
One of the interesting aspects of Hal's gear is that prior to his Blaemire concert toms, he was using two timbales in place of ride and floor toms. The one time I tried this, my timbales sounded like detuned timbales--nothing like Hal's...darn it.

I have the LPs (even their "Shopping Bag" album still sealed with shopping bag inside...ooooh...) but I think few of the LPs made it onto CD. Even the Christmas Album. Fun AM pop music :)
