Whats.. I think

Hi! Well, if you mean my box wrench post... I forget. But, I was just thinking of a fellow I grew up with; Edgar 'Toady' McPhearson... Yep, ole 'Toady' was (or maybe is still) quite a character. He was kind of an 'original' guy, with many non-conformist ideas. One of the things I remember about him was that he refused to wear trousers on major holidays. Yeah, that kind of set him apart. He was also an avid collector... he had one of the largest (well, maybe only) collection of eggnog cartons on the west coast. He had his life fairly well mapped out during high school. He was adamant about opening a hair stylist shop for Barbie Dolls.

I'm also thinking, well wondering really, if we'll get the info about this Ruby Strata Standard kit.

This is a real tough crowd. Where to go when you are happy about a new drum kit?!

Okay! First, welcome to the place where information grows like mold on yogurt... (that's really a bad analogy).

The main thing I remember seeing is, how much? What did you get them for?

Now, on to my observations:

First off, congrats! That's pretty good, although incomplete. Those shells are the same as Ludwig's regular line of shells... only the hardware is different. Finding a bass drum with both original hoops is also very nice! Some more pictures of the snare would help us tell you for sure about the muffler. One or all of the drums may have dates stamped on the interior(s). This is only for information for yourself, pretty much. It's pretty obvious these are late 60's or very early 70's drums. Also, the missing toms (floor and rack) are kind of easy to come up with... Ruby Strata was one of the most popular Standard series wraps. Ask around here or check ebay.

It seems you're missing a rack tom, and that it's been replaced by something. Same with the floor tom. If you're interested, better pix of those will shed more light on what you have, if you don't already know. I've taken the liberty of pulling the C/L pix linked in your original posting for future reference. The C/L ad will disappear eventually.

That's it! Enjoy those drums, and if you are inclined, complete the kit.

Great to know that the floor tom won't be that hard to find. I wasn't sure if I should turn them over for a profit or complete the set. Now I think I will keep 'em. I have other Ludwig kits but no Standards. The tom does have a '60's muffler. Thanks for adding the CL pic! I will add more pics in the next couple of days. I did pay the $125 as posted in the ad. Don't know why I said "guess" when the figure was right there. I didn't haggle. Didn't want to lose 'em.
