1971 Ludwig Burgundy Sparkle Pearl

Loading...

Started on this one today. Looks like this one has very little fading, should look killer when i`m finished. Man, this Burgundy wrap can put you in a hypnotic state when your polishing it, It looks like the flakes are two different colors of miniature stop signs over a pearl background. OK ! That 60`s thing is going to come up again. Here are a few pics.

I've only played a Ludwig kit once in my life. It was a great experience. That wrap colour is beautiful! Please let us know how everything turns out.

Wow, I love this color! It's beautiful. Am I not seeing this right... I don't see a serial number on your pointy B/O badge... hum?

It is my understanding that 1970 and 71 had the badges without numbers.

No true, 1970 badges had serial numbers as well as 1971 badges...what you might have is a special order bass drum. what size is your drum?

Let me re-phrase that. The way that I understand it is,some of the badges in 1970/71 had no numbers.

Hawghunter, we are both 50% correct. But from what I know thus far about B/O pointy badges which isn't much... the B/O badges that do not have serial numbers are more and likely to be a special order drum... like in your case. Thus no serial number. I will admit I've never seen a 1971 pointy B/O badge without a serial number before so that has thrown me some...

What i mean is ...Burgundy sparkle was NOT offered in 1971 per the 1971 Ludwig catalog thus making your wrap special order. I can almost bet that finding any 1971 toms & snare to match that 1971 dated bass drum will be very hard. I'm not saying Ludwig never made burgundy sparkle... my guess is that the owner had to ask for it in a special order request???

The drum is 14x22

Interesting thread. So, you only have the bass drum or did I miss something? It makes sense that the non number badge is a special order. What ever the case is, you have a very nice looking bass drum shell. I hope we will see the drum all put back together soon.
