Tama Metallic White Imperial Star 10 Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I got this leviathan on trade for a snare I had. I wasn't sure because of the size and the concert tom "un-trendy" thing...However, the fact that is such a big and old set (1981), The Steward Copeland factor and also that has remained together for such a long time in this amazing condition made me think "Hell! I'll take 'em!"...The other guy was thrilled with my snare too.

I had fun with the set, but Concerts are just not my thing...I thought about installing bottom lugs and then I went: " Naaa.., That would be a crime".

Anyways, here it is...$500.00 plus shipping (I'd say around $200.00 in the 48, depending on location)...Open to interesting trades....For more pixs or questions: vintagedrumbug@live.com

5X14 KING BEAT SNARE DRUM (MISSING MUFFLER)

Great deal. However, that is not a King Beat. The KB had a parallel strainer.

Thanks for the Heads up Latz! I got the info from the 1978 Tama Catalog where all the sets are featured with the King Tempo...If a Tama Connoisseur could chime in about what model its this one it would be much appreciated...

Didn't the King Beat/Imperialstar snare drum come available with 2 or 3 different strainers?

I see three different strainers on the catalog. KG, CL AND SS. All of the 1978 sets on the catalog sport a King beat snare drum. Im not sure if the King beat have Supersensitive system only...Any info its greatly appreciated.

VDB, I don't think that set is from the late 70's either. The toms and kick look to have the later, thicker shells. Do either have re-rings? Tama switched to a thicker shell in 81. The Omni Sphere tom holder was introduced in 1980.

I also think that snare is a Powerline as shown here: http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=40&now=3

It has a simple SS2 strainer and the lack of die cast hoops.

Looks like your kit is from 1980 or 81 depending on the thickness of your shells, a Saturn model http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=42&now=18

Here is another page showing both the King Beat and Powerline models http://www.tamadrum.co.jp/anniversary/expansion.php?cat_id=42&now=10

The boom tom stand is another indication of 80's

Thanks for the trip back to my youth...
