It's funny to see Ginger's feet, I sometimes tuck my pant leg into my socks to keep the bass beater from getting caught in my cuffs too. Occupational hazard I guess. Great comping on the drums from Ginger here.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I saw Ginger Baker play with his African percussion group - I think it was in the early 70's?

It was headlined as The battle of the drummers: Ginger Baker's Air Force vs. Buddy Miles

Battle of The Drummers.

The show opened with a Scottish Rock Band = Nazareth. They were not part of the Battle....I think they were billed as the referee.

Buddy Miles and his band were first.....then Ginger Baker.

It was a very good concert and Mr. Baker was on and it was a good show. Tons of African drumming and it was a GOOD NIGHT to be able to see all that live and up close.

Buddy Miles is/was (R.I.P. Buddy Miles) very good also.....more of a Funk drummer, but I really enjoyed his playing.

Buddy and Baker always made it look so easy.

Great stuff Mr. Baker

I read GB's autobiography recently. Good read. I thought it was cool when I read back in the day Ginger was in some bar in England and a guy in the audience asked if he could jam with them. (his name was Jack Bruce) after he came on stage he was instantly part of the band. Then it goes on saying they were looking for a lead guitar player, and heard of this unknown guy that was suppose to be pretty good. his name was Eric Clapton. the rest is history.

That is from his "Master Drum Technique" video.I got a copy of it a few years ago,and its pretty decent.Unfortuneately,it's on VHS,and my player has bitten the dust. You can clearly tell that all of his playing is rooted in jazz.He dosen't consider himself a rock drummer at all, dispite his work with Cream who he considers a jazz group.
