Identification Help for Rogers kit. Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Loading...

Hello All! I have had this Rogers kit for almost 18 years now, but have never really been able to identify it. I have recently been searchingthrough old catalogs and such trying to find mine, but to no avail. I have several pictures that should help. I have a 20 bass, 12 and 13 toms, and 16 floor. However the toms are not mounted on the bass with the swiv-o-matic, but a type of slot reciever or something(see photo). Someone please help in identifying these for me! Also there are no stickers or writing of any sort on the insides of any of the drums, so I have no idea where they were manufactored or assembled. Has the small script "rogers" badge as seen in photos, not Big R.

Those don't look like Rogers lugs to me

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Aren't those the R-360 lugs? The script badges are weird though and no wrap. Did they do a lacquer R360? The cat. only shows wraps. Maybe someone stripped the wraps and slapped the script badges on.

That looks right to me. Now what was the difference between the r360 and r380?

I can't answer that one. I'm not qualified in that field but if someone else answers correctly we'll all be qualified. That's why I love this site.

Strange beast here. The hardware (lugs and chrome bass hoops) appears to be R360 or R380, but the Rogers script logo is mounted too perfectly (placement and angle) to be just slapped on a stripped R360 shell. Interior shots of the shells would be helpful.

The interior of the shells are all solid black. There are no stickers, stamps, or any type of writing that indicate anything. The shells dont appear to be stripped. They are smooth where lacquer was put on the wood grain. I'll get better pics of the kit as a whole tonight. Thanks guys for the input. I would love to find the answer to this kit.

Sorry it has taken so long to 'help you out' on this thread. Usually I search for R380 and R360 often enough not to miss threads on it. I see this post is a couple months old now and you very well have already learned that your kit here is either an R360 or R380. I have all the respect in the world for The Ploughman when it comes to Rogers.

Well - let me put it this way.....He may be right that the shells are Rogers B&B drum shells. At the same time, I can confirm that the tom mount is from an early 360/380 between 67 and the early 70s. The reason I have such a strong 360/380 vibe here is that your hoops and T-rods are 360/380, as is the lugs (the most obvious thing about your kit).

I have researched some on the difference between the 360 & 380, but I am not remembering right off the top of my head. It would be easy to say number of lugs per drum (6 vs. 8) but I don't think that was it, at least not that alone. Read up and you will learn about them - as there is quite a bit of info on here and other forums. I understand that when Rob Cook updates his Rogers Book he will include more info on these.

Made by Yamaha, birch (and maybe some other wood mixed in as well - OF COURSE IF THESE ARE THE 360/380 SHELLS) - a cut above the other MIJ of that time. Too bad the wrap was removed, as most all Rogers wrapped drums in that era were quite interesting. If that were my kit, I would re-wrap it.

John

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
