I have an outdoor gig tomorrow night, day temps will be a high of 54*, we go on at 7.30 and it will dip down in the 40's, any suggesitons? the guitar players are worrying about condensation in their tubes, I plan on bringing my Fibes, so the FG shells should not be effected by the temps, not sure what I should wear? I guess layers would be best, I have a feeling we will be playing for ourselves tomorrow. Wish it was last weekend, it was 70*

Your drum kit will be fine. Tell your guitar players to get the amps up and running ASAP but they will be fine. Inspect them afterwards for moisture. If there is any, pull them out once back at home and run a fan on them to dry them out.
Layers is always a good plan. Maybe carry a little space heater to help limber you up, but once you get started you should be just fine.
Enjoy. In the future you will have one of those "remember that time we played when it was 40 degrees outside?" stories.

Same boat. Cold and wet. I don't have a kit that can pull off the cold and wet environment. I'm not going to cart any of my kits in that. So, I've a feeling we will be canceling due to rain ... and cold.
If it were just cold ... shorts with jogging pants over 'em ... muscle shirt with button up shirt and a sweater. You are correct in thinking layers.
One reason why i LOVE my Fibes, those shells can handle colder temps than I can LOL

The shells are one thing, but I often wonder if the Mylar heads and the cymbals would possibly begin to get brittle. Or is 30-40 degrees not nearly enough.

I don't think that is an issue at all. 40 degrees, while being a more or less miserable playing experience, is not that cold when thinking I terms of plastics and metals.

Wonder how it's going? I can't help picturing him all blue and shivering with dripcicles hanging from the tip of his nose... x-mas2
Hope it was a good gig!

Well no surprise the weather kept people indoors, just our usual groupie's came out, was more like a cold outdoor rehearsal, it did sound good, we still got paid, had some fun dispite the temps, I peeled off some layers after I worked up some heat. another unforgettable gig to notch up. LOL....

See? "Remember that gig we did when it was 40 degrees out? Good times, good times."
Glad it went well and you enjoyed it.
We used to say either " The crowds were staying away in droves" or "If people don't want to come, you can't stop them."
When you play to a small audience, don't forget to say "Thank you both" between songs, or in the case of yesterday, "thank you b-b-both". Hope you did a cover of BTO's You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet, or the Who's My Generation. You could've gotten some good comedy mileage out of the stutters.
