An Old Dog Last viewed: 55 minutes ago

This one is WAAAYYY off topic ... but ...

I have been reluctant to accept drumming jobs lately due to wanting my younger peeps to gain experience. It's a sacrifice for others kinda thing.

So, I got a call the other day from a very good musician buddy of mine. He's one of those local legend guys that every town has (he played with Bob Marley way back in the day). Anyway, he asks me how my heart is (faith) and am I ready to run a lengthy gig. Come to find out, there's a huge reunion of Jesus People (from back in the 70s) taking place here locally at a private outdoor concert area. There's going to be a huge group of old geezers showing up with guitars and a desire to step up to a mic. They needed a 'house' band. So, the bud of mine calls me up and offers me the drum throne.

Wow. Too cool. I get the honor of playing all day and night with gobs (between 50 and 75 musicians) of complete strangers that just wanna play. I am so stoked. It will be 100% 'in the moment' with no rehearsal as the songs are called for by each musician on the spot.

I'm living blessed.

Yes, it will be fun for you R/S...I`ve played jamborees in the past and the most exciting part of it is not knowing what song will be next! Make sure you warm up before because you will be sitting for awhile...

Cheers...Rod

I honestly believe I still have an old tie-died T-shirt with a cross on the front of it from 1972 (my Jesus/Hippie days). If I can find it, I'll have to send it to you for this gig. Peace and love brother.

I've a strong feeling that they are more likely to break out into a Larry Norman tune than a Rose tune. But, I'll be ready none the less.

Ahh the early days of Contemporary Christian music. I haven't heard Larry's name (or JPUSA) in a very long time. Have fun!
