Okay, being the site curmudgeon, I'm compelled... nay, required to ask this:

So, you play backwards, at least backwards in reference to the norm... I'm wondering how things work for complex time signatures. As I see it, 4/4 time would be easy. 2/4 still okay as you must play it as 4/2 time. 3/4 time, as played by you could make for some interesting polka's, though... you know, 4/3 time in your lingo...

Jazz signatures must require a degree in quantum physics.

Seriously? 3/4 is not complex nor does it have anything to do with the my original post. I won't even ask what a "jazz signature" is.

I believe that it was an attempt at humor based on the previous posts about playing "backwards". If you apply it to 3/4 the time signature becomes 4/3 or 4 third notes per measure..... I thought it was funny when I read it. Laughing H

Love the satin flame finish on those drums. What a great stage kit!

You misunderstood Fish's post. Fish is a great guy and was being (very) funny. His 'take' was actually quite cleaver.

Lefty set-ups just look weird to us righty's so it instantly becomes fodder for humor. Take the 'compliments' as they come. Great kit and a great save. Enjoy them for many years to come.

Thanks for the comps. John. To anyone in the Boston area, if you're interested in seeing/hearing them, I'll be taking these drums out tomorrow night 9/21 to a great club called Capone's in Peabody, Ma. with my 9 piece band. You'll be able to hear what they sound like backwards.

I do realize that was a joke from Fishwaltz I just have to jab back by asking what a 3rd note looks like and by saying that I didn't know jazz had its own exclusive time signatures.

You haven't tried following Joe Morello's foot-prints in the snow on, 'Take Five' have you? You bet jazz has some of its own time signatures! Some of the counts on that stuff is enough to make a math major's head spin like the little girl in The Exorcist! lol After 50 years, I still get thrown for a loop counting 5 over 4, or 7 over four! Toilet

I know what you mean and I studied from Alan Dawson who also played with Dave Brubeck. I didn't say jazz doesn't have different time signatures. My point is that those time signatures, polymeters and polyrhythms are not just limited to jazz. Odd time signatures can be (and is) used in all music. Just buy one Frank Zappa album (any album) and you'll hear odd time sigs. in music other than jazz.

Anyway, I know you guys all mean well but this is going way off course and should be another thread. Again, I thank all for the compliments on the drums which is what I originally posted.
