I will make it short. My brother has a friend he son goes to this high school. He's a football player anyway this school has a marching band and they need the drums they have fixed {you know with football games in a small town is a big deal}.With the money cut's to schools in cal they don't have the money to fix the drums. The music store that was doing the work will not do it without money from the school.I know they have 4 bass drums/8 snares/6 toms.I talked to the school music/band leader he said they have a room full of old drums that they dont used anymore he would trade me my work and parts for the drums they don't used anymore.I don't know what any of the drums are but i do know the school open it's door's back in 1935..The music/band leader want's to trade me for my work on the drums they used for the drums they have they don't used.So should i take all of the drums for my work? Or maybe offer to buy the drums and fix the ones they what me to?Or like a 50/50 deal work/drums and cash?..What should i do? Mikey
Question What to do on this Deal?? Last viewed: 3 minutes ago
Mikey...Before making your decision, you should have a look at the drums they are willing to trade...Also, have a look at the drums that need repairing...After doing this, you will know what you are up against and it should be easier to make a decision...
Just my opinion...

Agree. Look first, then decide.
Could be a lot of fun to do the repairs etc just to help them out if you have the time. Maybe even teach a couple of the school's drummers about repairs along the way. Passing some of your knowledge can be pretty reqarding in itself.
+1 on what was stated above......especially on the sharing how to repair them....seems that repairing/restoring drums with the younger generation is becoming a lost art.....as well as how to properly tune a drum...
:2Cents:
+2! Look, see, deal. Only way, so no one gets hurt.

I would go to the school and take a look, and possibly try to swap your time and parts for a hot secretary, or teacher's aide!!!Walking

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
