Thanks Ploughman, I should have taken a few pictures before I left state Sunday for work. Will post when I get home this weekend.

This is what I have gathered so far:

It is in the '64 catolog as a "Headliner" kit with B&B lugs and brass powertone snare. Only difference is that there was never a bass cymbal mount ever placed on this bass.

Thanks for all the input and information!

Without the cymbal mount, that is a 'Citation' (1964 cat) or 'Citadel' (1967 cat) outfit.

That serial number is right around the transition to beavertail lugs in '63, a photo tells us what lugs are on there.

However, you do have the new-in-63 Keller shells, which came in during that same transition.

Without the cymbal mount, that is a 'Swingtime' outfit. That serial number is right around the transition to beavertail lugs in '63, a photo tells us what lugs are on there. However, you do have the new-in-63 Keller shells, which came in during that same transition.

Thank you bigdan for the info. All the catologs I have looked at however (62 and 64) show the "Swingtime" to having a bass cymbal mount. Was this something they did different in '63?

I'm very sorry, my bad, I misspoke. Old age = faulty memory.

That is a 'Citation' (1964 cat) or 'Citadel' (1967 cat) outfit. Same layout, but they updated the name in the 1967 catalog.

(I've updated the info in my prior post.)

I like that set up, and there aren't too many of those around.

No problem bigdan, as I am learing as I go, and thank you for responding!

The "Citation" in the '64 cat, is stating a 14" floor....the one I have is a 16". Looking forward to posting pictures of this one to find out what I have. My knowledge is growing, and thanks to the forum!

Yes, the catalog shows a 14" floor tom, and the buyer probably wanted a 16", so the dealer ordered it that way.

The layout on top of the bass is the indicator of what model setup it is in most cases.

Many times the buyer would want a specific layout, but was interested in different sizes and had the kit ordered that way. The sizes shown in the catalog for the various kits were the 'suggested' sizes, but it was always up to the buyer. For example, the Londoner outfit was shown as a 20-12-13-16 in 1967, but there are plenty of them around in 22-12-13-16 because the buyer did not want a 20" bass. I have one like that. The layout is the link to the model name, not so much the sizes.

Going earlier, there were a number of layouts shown in the early 60's with 22" basses, but many of them are now found with a 20" bass. Many buyers wanted the smaller bass back then because the music scene was very different.

Thanks bigdan...learning here....I have attached a couple photo's for more info. The 20" bass is Cleveland tag #34268, the 16" floor is Cleveland tag #32404, and the 12" ride is Cleveland tag #34264. The tag pictured is in the brass powertone snare. Thanks again!

Yep should be a machined collet nose... the one on there is a cast version from fullerton Cal.

Thanks guys for the info! So I can assume that it is an early 60's shell, with B&B lugs, later collet with aftermarket hoops and rods?
