1965 Club Date Find and Restore from CL Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Nice. Don't see as many bdp Club Dates as you do the sparkles--it's a cool look. Killer deal. I've got a pair of 14" Paiste Ludwig hats that I like a lot--real thin & sorta cheap, but have a nice quiet sound to them. Check 'em out again before you ditch 'em......marko

My '67s came with the ol' dreaded diamond plate but I love the kit regardless. Out of my four Ludwig kits this one probably sounds the best and has a great vibe...real fun to play. I used the Novus polish system on mine which really made them pop. Anytime I play out with them I get compliments about both sight and sound from drummers and non-drummers alike. I didn't get as good a deal as you but I haven't looked back...I love my Clubdates!

Wow that is like spot on how mine came! Crazy! Digging the sound of the kit.

I am in love with the Keystone Acro on this thing. Is it crazy that I am digging the sound more than my C.O.B. and Luddalloy Supras? I have had a couple acros before and struggled to get them to sound average but this thing tuned right up and sounded amazing. Like my new favorite snare amazing and I have a dozen of these things.

Great kit! And yes, for some weird reason, every once in awhile, you'll find an acro that just sounds much better than others made at the time. I've had a couple over the years that just sounded stomp down killer. Enjoy your awesome clubbie kit for many years to come...

Thanks Purdie and Tama! I have had a nice run as of late. I have to hunt hard and try to find drums that are either so cheap or have so many extras I don't need so that I can sell em to finance kits and builds. This kit also came with a B/O 13 inch Club Date tom (on ebay now), 70's Ludwig Tom Mount, a couple nice Zildjian Cymbals from the 80's, some great Tama Hardware from the 80's, Tama and Ludwig pedals from the 80's, a big 24 inch CB 700 kick and CB 700 Roto-Toms made by Remo. I walked with the kit for 320.00 so hopefully it ends up being essentially free once I am done selling off the parts I don't keep. Probably keeping the Tama Hardware for my 80's Imperialstar kit though. It's really the only way I can afford this hobby! I rarely buy a drum because I need it for my collection. I kinda let the drums pick me! Part of the fun is in the hunt right!

That is a great quote and a great looking kit. Congratulations!

Quick question; what did you use to wax the finish and would you suggest waxing if you used Novus #1? If you used both would you polish with Novus after or before the wax? I am thinking I need to add a little luster back to the wrap on one of my kits and it seems like wax would be the way to go.

Fantastic kit! And I like your idea of selling off the extras to finance the deals. I try to do that where possible too.

The 80s Tama hardware is worth holding on to if you need the stuff. I still use my 80s Tama BD pedal and HH stand that I got in the early 90s. It's super tough. Mine have been toured to death, or what would be death for a lot of hardware, and they just never give up.
