Yes, 1968 seems correct. I would think that the muffler would have the black pad, not white. The physical mechanics of the muffler are also a bit different, although they can be interchanged with no problem. Yes, it needs the "ladder" underneath, also referred to as the rail.

The "Rogers Book", while an EXCELLENT tool/read, is inaccurate on it's Dynasonic datings. That said, serial #18860 is 1969/Dayton as 1968 ended with serial numbers in the 17000's... give or take of course! Could be "close enough for jazz" as the saying goes. 1969 is more accurate though. Also...

It's not a "ladder"... it's not a "rail"... and it's not a "cage"... it is correctly referred to as the "snare frame", and that is what Joe Thompson/Rogers called it!

Here's a pic of my 1968 WMP Dynasonic, serial #14080. While not a 61/2X14.. ( which is an incredible find! ) .. it is near MINT!

A has been noted in earlier posts with much fanfare and gnashing of teeth, make certain somone has not added snare beds. Not having the snare frame would potentially make one suspect.

For Big R era Dyna-Sonics, the most accurate and up to date dating guide would be me.

For the drum in question, the bed should be very very minimal.

Agreed Ploughman!!!!! And I would have to say... modestly of course, that for 60's era Dynasonics, the most accurate would be me! My dating reserach/guide is pretty infallible.
