Took an extended break from the Forum.... Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Well....I see somethings have changed around here and some very much have not.....

For the record, there are a great bunch of guys here (for the most part) where great stories and info can be shared. I always liked the basic premise of this forum over others. However, when the likes of the Pooder2 (and whatever else the guy now calls himself on ebay) threads STILL continue, and the fact that others are still being duped by a crook that calls himself JohnnyRingo on here, it makes me sad that people don't bother to even consider using the search function FIRST!

If this thread about the guy don't spell it all out for you, I don't know what does! :JohnnyRingo refusing refunds

I called this guy out on the forum openly over a year ago as a crook, a scam artist, and all I got was crap about it. Hmmm

Do I really have to reference the latin phrase used in a Brady Bunch episode to get you guys to finally listen to what I was saying over a year ago??

Guess I do......Caveat Emptor= let the buyer beware.

Know your seller.....if it sounds too good to be true, it is!

My take on the above link subject..........ban the guy from selling on the forum, or heck, just from the forum period for life. Obviously an unethical person.....gotta love the "I already spent your money on bills so I can't give it back to you" move.....most people wait to see if the buyer is satisfied with the sale BEFORE spending the money. You have to in this day and age.

Doh

L-Dude.......you're alive??!! ;)

Good to see you back again, thinks its wise to come back with both pistols drawn, at least let some warm up to your sense of humor.

Good to have you back

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

Yes, I was on an extended tour of Europe, Scandinavia, and the sub-continent. x-mas3

Seriously though, I did need a break from the forum, as it always seemed to be of the same questions by newcomers over and over and over. "How much is this worth?", "Anyone ever deal with this guy?", and my favorite: "what the heck is this?"

All of which can usually be answered by research on the main VDG page and out on the regular internet itself. Its called using a search function, reading and not being lazy. Not all of us drummers are dumb gorillas with sticks bashing away on our tubs you know.....although if you read 98% of the drums (etc) for sale ads on craigslist, you'd think otherwise.....LOL! Use the brain you were given to do more than count to 4 and quit looking for the easy ways out newbies! Do your homework, and THEN if you get stumped, then ask the questions. Then I will be glad to put my knowledge out there.

Another reason I took a break was that I would get pounded with PMs from "members" that I never even conversed/interacted with here on the forum. Usually with the "whats my stuff worth?" questions. I am not a vintage drum appraiser, nor have I ever claimed to be. I just plain think its rude to PM someone on the forum that you have had no interaction with and ask them an arbitrary question like that. I don't know you from a hole in the wall. Why would you listen to my opinion on drum values anyway? Doh!

Ok, I'm off my Soap Box again.......:D

Back from the dead again,... !!

Gunning down the newbies and lash`n the hasbeens. Gotta love it. Hope ya got those X problems solved, That`s just too much to do daily !!

I was a newbie once, never used that search thing much cuz I`d type in things like,...what is this?,...or how much is this ?,... and what`s this thing do,..or How much is this worth? and all I`d get is a hardrive felt appology say`n search resulted in nothing !! Thing doesn`t carry a conversation well !!

I must say though,..the How much is this? question is prolly the easiest thing to find out and if you know what you got,...asking that is annoying not to mention obviously a loaded one.

The crooks and scamies are showing up alot lately partly because, vintage drum searches on the net lead ya here. The good news is the fire for effect order isn`t given anymore,...it`s now realised after the fact !!

Anyway, nice to see ya back !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Good to hear your voice ... so to speak.

It's been interesting here over the past year. Some have arrived, some of departed ... some have taken a piece of this with them.

Hey, did that guy ever contact you about the Black Panther kit? He's on here and is looking to rid himself of it. I suggested he PM you.

I had turned off PMs a while ago, so I never heard about them. Not a big deal as I really have no room for more than the 2 kits I currently have, and yes, one is still the black panther kit.

Thanks VDB.......Panthers back? Actually I did try and sell them at one point, but ended up yanking them. I couldn't bear to part with them after all, so in reality, they never left me again. (Parted with them once back in the 90's and was fortunate enough to get them back. Decided that this would be a bad plan once again.)
