Thanks guys for your suggestions..

Back home after an amazing trip to the USA.. Amazing landscape, music, food and lots of nice friendly people. We had a great time in LA with visits to LA Pro Drumshop, Sam Ash and Guitar center.. spending a few bucks at each. We also caught a Peter Erskine gig at a nice small venue where after the show we met Peter and he was kind enough to sign his CD. We also went to a gig where a certain John Swartz (VDF member) spent some time with us.

In Vegas we saw a couple of percussion based shows, Notably "The Blue Man" which were Top class.

The Telluride 4 day festival was absolutely an amazing experience with so many top acts featured but etched in our memory banks are the John Fogerty concert that produced every Creedence hit that I can recall plus other classics.. the Drummer in his show being Kenny Aronoff. Also notable was Omah Hakim performing with Jerry Douglas...Bluegrass took a big step up with a great band... (Leftover Salmon) I am their newest fan..We followed many suggestions offered by you guys .. Burgers, craters etc, and another thanks to SlingerLynn for getting the Acrolite half way across the country & safely into my hands.. My son also had an Acro shipped from Texas to LA for our collection by Guitar Centre..

Another fond memory is sitting outside under the stars, at Monument Valley..whist watching John Waynes "The Searchers" blasted on to the hotel wall, which was shot at the very site some 70 years earlier.

Cheers

John

Gilner,

There's lots of us right here in America who also wish to visit the whole U.S. someday. I've never been west of the Mississippi River and would love to experience a trip like John described.

Well, If you do grab an opportunity, do it...

We also hiked the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Venice Beach & Santa Monica Pier.. Saw Historic Steam Rail at Durango-Silverton, Sampled some top beer brews at Ouray, Great Mexican food at Sedona and Sante Fe.

We also were seen "Standing at the Corner In Winslow Arizona", Had breakfast at the "Sunset Grill" and while at Josuah Tree, we stayed at the hotel where "Gram Parsons" met his demise back in 73..

We packed quite a lot into a 1 month trip.

Also note... an "I Hop" breakfast alone, is worth a trip to US..IMO

Cheers

John

John,

I don't know how I missed this before...I guess just busy-ness. Anyway, I'm glad you had such a great time and glad to have been able to get the Acro to you. I sure hope to visit your neck of the woods someday, or even the places you visited out west. I don't think I've been further west than the central parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

If you liked IHOP, you should also visit Waffle House next time you make it over here. I've had many a meal in Waffle House at 3am after gigs. It's not the best food in the world, but it's about the only thing open at that time of night...and it ain't too bad either. ;)

Blessings!

Lynn

I'm glad you and your son had a great time in the "States".Unfortunately, there are a lot of people that live here, who don't take advantage of some of the most amazing things man has made, and nature has to offer. The Grand Canyon, and the Mexican food in Sedona(not to mention the scenery),are just two things that don't ever disappoint.

Maybe the next time, you can visit the east coast.New York City,Cape Cod,Niagra Falls. There's some beautiful out there.

Again, glad it was a positive experience for both of you,and maybe some day,I'll visit Oz.Cheers

Hey Lynn,

I have only been to 5 states of OZ.. but now 6 of USA..

(Mind you, a visit to "The Four Corners" quickly upped the ante).

I am now determined to replicate the recipe for "IHop" Mushroom/Spinach Omelette in rememberance of this trip..

Steve,

My son did some east coast US last year.. NYC to New Orleans....He really enjoyed it ...so.. I'd like to do something similar some day...

Cheers

John
