What a beautiful snare! Excellent job on the cleanup. And wouldn't that be cool if it was indeed the same snare used in the L&H movie!!! Cool pic.

What do you think about this? http://www.laurelandhardy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/9a_3a.jpgThe same? The movie Jitterbugs released by 20th Century Fox, 11 June 1943

That's fantastic! It sure looks like it. However, I have since sold the drum to another drummer here in Sweden. I'll let him know about this.

Exceptional!

Can the drum be traced to the movie in any way by the inscription?

I don't know. The inscription reads: "20th C-Fox/32-2-29693" (where / is a line break). It's not obvious anyway.

I hope you don't mind me chiming in on this thread. I really enjoyed the great pics and information on these drums. Your posts here have been very interesting and instructive. I'm learning what I can about WFL snare drums with the Zephyr lugs because I want to restore my own WFL snare that I believe dates to 1939-1941. As you can see from my pics, I need to track down some tension rods and do some cleaning and polishing.

Hi,

And many thanks for the kind words. As you know, I sold the WFL snare to another Swedish drummer some time ago. That drum of yours is fantastic! I've never seen anything like it. Beautiful.

I wish you the best of luck in tracking down t-rods. And please do post pics of your drum as the restore process progresses.

Thanks for your comments, guys. I will definitely post pics of the restoration. I forgot to mention that the drum is an All-American Swing Model. Also, your posts regarding calfskin/modern heads were very helpful.
