No it's the transition badge that's the way it's suppose to look. it was right after the gold blue badge, also the badge on the bass drum is side ways. also I can date it because of the chrome on the hardware.

Wow! What a drop-dead gorgeous set of drums that is! Looks like rolling thunder! Have big fun with those, buddy.

Aha! Transition badge AFTER the gold/blue one...gotcha! Thanks for the info, VM2000. Here is a link to tons of pics if anyone is interested in checking them out.
Shes is a real beauty!!
Here's some skinny on these drums you just bought, conn era and leedy drums are some of the finest built drums on earth Hands down!!! they will more than likely be in perfect round, no ply separation or just a very very small amount compared to any other vintage drums you own or will ever own. On my Leedy's and Ludwig Ludwigs. I use Remo White coated ambassadors top and bottom on the toms. and a emperor white coated front head and a powerstroke 3 for the rear pure heaven's thunder.,
these shells need thinner heads due to the toms have a flat profile to them. the bass drums are more rounded at the top of the bearing edge you'll understand once your looking at them.

Thanks again for the 411, VM2000. I might leave the calf skins on the resos and will most likely run Ambassadors for batters on the toms. I love the PS3 for bass drums! Have one on my '58 and '63. I have been wanting a Leedy kit for a while and finally found what I consider my Holy Grail kit. I know the craftsmanship should be top notch, and if you looked at all the pics of this kit, it seems to be in incredible shape! Let's just hope she gets here safe and sound! **fingers crossed** Thanks for the tip on the edges, too. Nice to know I have a Leedy enthusiast here. Any tips on a good Leedy book? I bought the Rob Cook one thinking it would be like the Ludwig one he put out, but not a chance.

Hope it was of some help to you, yes a leedy conn fan here, yeah the CooK Leedy book left some to be desired for sure, get some leedy catalogs and The leedy topics. but they sale for good money on ebay just watch for them.
As far as the badge goes, it strikes me as an odd sequence to have an Aluminum badge (WWII), a Brass/ Blue badge, & then an Aluminum badge again. Seems more likely that the OP badge followed the Aluminum war badge, and was a transition into the Brass/Blue. So the sequence would be, Aluminum w/ old script, Aluminum w/ new script, Brass/Blue w/ new script.
That is a super gorgeous set, EMD!!! Congrats!

That's what I thought would make most sense, but I'll take Vintagemore2000's word for it.
