GC shout out Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Sometimes Guitar Center folks get a bad rap for giving poor service.

Well, let me tell you about my latest experience.

My snare wires were so warped that they had to be replaced. Went to my local GC and picked up a set of Pure Sound wires. Took them home and put them on. They sounded horrible. Took my snare complete to GC. Matthew in the drum shop was giddy about seeing my Supra. He took it from my hands like I had just passed a sacred artifact to him. He was so intent on making it sound good that he even checked my tuning (I was slightly off) and proceeded to go to work.

He deftly re-strung what I had done, positioned it correctly, pulled a new snare stand from the shelf set it on it and started drumming. My Supra has never ever sounded any better I swear! Matthew was beaming as well. Found out that he owns a '65 Supra and loves it. Then, I asked him How much? Shook his head and said "Nothing". "Glad to work on vintage stuff" he said. I bought his lunch anyway. Thanks Matthew from Syracuse Guitar Center.

I really thought you were talking about the GC in Binghamton( Johnson City). They too have some really helpful drummers. Dave and Matt both know vintage stuff. (Eric is friendly, too.) I find them good resources for info. I think they enjoy seeing what I bring in.

Small world...

I travel to Binghamton, Johnson City, Endicott and Vestal quite a bit.

'Tis a small world indeed.

A couple of guys in my local GC are fantastic. One of them even asked me to sit in for him at a gig last year. Now that's service!
