Altar, do you have a pic ? Not often a brand can actually stump this group of obsessive-compulsives ;)

Maybe viewing one, someone can identify by physical attributes.

no, found a listing on the internet for some shells that were already stripped of their wrap. When I called and asked about the shells I was told they were Emerald brand and that they were made by Pearl in the early 80s... I didn't go get them but was wondering about them... If I go get them I'll try and get some pics..

Thanks for the help tho... :/

I have an 8x14 bell brass snare that I bought used back in '86. All the lug casings have "Emerald" imprinted in them. I love that snare and still use it but I have never seen any other Emerald drums.

my first kit was a emerald kit which i got in 1983. it had pearl like lugs and it was along the lines of a cb 700 and others of the like. nothing fancy.

here's a pic of my kit. its the only one i have handy, and i ADDED the metal stick on L shaped stickers to try and spruce it up.

perhaps this is not the level of drums your looking for. but its the only "emerald" kit i've ever heard of.

These drums were M.I.J. in about 1984-85 till about 1992..West Coast Drums in santa ana sold this brand of drums all over the U.S. They have two levels of sets the lower end that had pearl copy lugs on them sets came im white,black,red,blue..The low end sets had the "Emerald" imprinted on the lugs the lugs were somewhat a copy of the Sonor lugs in shape. On these sets same color as the lower end but you could have had all the chrome parts lugs,rims,t-rods,mounts ete, ete, done in black or gold finish.....Mikey

I remember seeing an Emerald set in Florida-mid-eighties.It was as Mikey described,"emerald"in the lug housing, gold hardware and deep green solid color pearl.Definitely MIT construction. That would usually indicate luan.

I have been trying to get information for 2 yrs. on my drums.. I purchased a 9 pc. kit from a guy who bought them from a former touring drummer for the band "Mountain". The story was a drum shop went out of business in S. California and he snatched up the inventory. This kit according to him is 5 ply maple. It has African Bubinga Wrap known as the "Safari Series". He even gave me the Company catalog to go with it. The snare is solid brass known as the "Big Ben". They sound great but are tough to tune.
