From MIKEY777

I have seen this before. The "M" was the first stamp--the "M" stands for painted or stain shell. The "P" stands for plastic wrapped drum. They put a "P" over the "M" most likey the shell had a problem and would not look good with a painted or stain finish maybe a ding, small hair line cracks in outer ply of the shell? who knows...The best i can tell is that 020 stands for the plastic wrap in W.M.P.....Mikey

Thanks Mikey! That's good information. I was guessing the 020 meant WMP, but didn't know for sure because not all of the shells have that, and I've seen shells with other wraps without numbers. Good stuff! Very much appreciated!

Indeed it would have !! So the P is the type of finnish and the -020 is the color ?

I apologize for not sharing that sooner.

I guess Mikey cleared the 020 thing up for us. Excited

Without wanting to change the topic. I have never seen a 15th August drum before.

No big deal to most people but that is my birthdate. Well is was to be 19 years later.

Good deal! My 13" rack tom has the same date on it, so there are at least two out there.

P means it's a pearl wrap (meaning any wrap) 020 could mean thickness of the wraps .020 thick
