Sonor Bass Damp ... thingy

I was checking out another site and stumbled on to this picture. It shows a very cool bass dampener. I was unfamiliar with it and figured I'd post it here to get a bit of history out of youze guyze.

I can see from the cat that the Horst Link Sig kit has a similar damp but it doesn't look quite the same ... and it uses regular felty stuff.

Pretty cool item.

3" wide felt strip would do a better job. That's an amazing gizmo but, overkill.

I wonder how much more resonance killing weight it adds to the Bass.

Oddball, Is right this was on the Champions and Phonics sets. But as far as i know never were on late Teardrop sets i have seen..I have a few phonics sets they do have the muffler. All i can say it looks good on the drum i have removed them from the bass.To me that muffler set up is overkill.Made the drum sound very flat. You just need a 3" felt on the head....Mikey

I'll bet it made it easy to get that "cardboard" sound, I used to tune up to. It might have been designed by a violinist...
