Hey gents.....I am searching for a 70's LUDWIG vistalite kit in large sizes....26" or a 24" bass drum, 18" & 16" floor tom, 14" tom tom.....preferably in blue...no white or black.....I know it's a tough, specific request, but somebody might have one out there for sale........:)
Vintage Vistalite
you do, of course, know about the one that's still on ebay with the 26" bass, 20 and 18 floors and 14 tom, right? Bass has a repaired crack, it's been "for sale" for months now and it's in blue like you're wanting. Check 'em out.

I sure have.......I once even made an offer of $1750 on that kit and thankfully he declined. Once I landed back to earth I realized that a crack, repaired professionally or not, on the "key" piece to that whole kit (bass drum) is simply a bad thing. He started his listing at $3500!!!! He has gone down to $2000...It has been listed for over three months. What a shame....even has a rare 20" floor tom.

Thanks...I have already checked this shop out. That kit is their "museum" piece as they referred to it and "not for sale"....

That isn't necessarily true. A crack properly repaired with WeldOn is stronger than the Vistalite surrounding it.

Very true. Weld-On is a very amazing product and works like nothing I have ever used in my life. I was sold on the stuff when I read that it works on the molecular level where it actually melts the acrylic into itself and hardens after 24 hours initially and continues to strengthen as the days go by. If the crack is at the seam it will heal as if it was never seperated. A crack anywhere else will always be visible but it is for sure "repaired". I have used it, do use it and in fact have a 14x16 Vistalite shell right now still "healing" from a nasty crack. I first tried it on a junk Vistalite shell, applied the stuff, let it sit 2 days and then tried to pull it apart....nope. I was sold from then on. Cracked and repaired Vistalite's, or any acrylic shell, is as functional as it ever was but of course a cracked drum is a cracked drum to many and is of no value to them at all. But to the rest, it saves a drum and gives it continued life. The stuff really works very well.
