Where did you get the idea that the "Reliance "was made, just for schools ?

I'm confused are you tryin' to make a point or just being... ?I wrote that too bad they just marketed the snares for schools when (and I use mine for reference) it is a pretty decent snare with a great sound.Thats all :2Cents:

your drum like a lot of other snare drum's had this distinction, It's just really a certain price point drum as they are today.It's not that your snare drum is not a pro instrument it is. It was made for a certain market of the time which where Schools and students. The Ludwig acrolite certainly is in this very same category, but yet look at the rave reviews the acrolite receives all the time. Play your drum and enjoy it, it's a keeper.

I really have to second what vintagemore2000 is saying here. For a lot of vintage instruments, you can't beat the student models. They're good, well-made basic instruments that you can get a great sound out of. Today's student models tend to skimp on quality components, but that's not the case with vintage stuff. In general, all the separates the student models from the higher-end stuff is the bells and whistles. It's all quality equipment, and the best part is that you can usually pick up vintage student drums at a very good price. So, yes, play your drum and enjoy it!
