thank you for all the kind comments on my snare drum. I feel quite lucky to have this in my collection. I also have a ludwig acrolite snare drum vintage 1979 that is also very very clean.

Just as a reference point..

I paid around 270 usd for mine last year.. but it is a 6.5 10 lug..

Add 100 bucks shipping & I am still very happy with the deal.. Last week at rehearsal I realized just how good these drums are.. I had planned to use a few different snares, relative to the songs that we were working on.. I ended up doing them all on the Slingo..

Cheers

John

I believe I paid 225 Euro for my 6.5" COB Krupa 10 lugger.

By far the most versatile snare in my arsenal,... worth every Euro cent !

John the 10 lug 6.5 are more rare and bring more money. I think you have a real gem there that will bring music to your ears for a long time...congrats.

From blairndrums

Does your drum have COB rims?

The strainer pictured is the later type, so the hoops would almost certainly be steel.

I acquired my late 70s model (pic below) recently for $81... just lucky! Mine's probably not quite as clean as Mike's.

They're great drums and terrific value in today's marketplace.

I was so impressed with it that I went on to score a slightly cleaner 10 lug 6.5 for $175, which I like even more.

Some of my original Slingerland heads have a very small Slingerland sticker on them right below the Remo logo

Just wanted to see if this thread is still active. I still love my sound king and by the way it is verified that it is a 1970 Gene Krupa. I like playing it and dont know if I will ever sell it. ...............Well I might. depends.

take care
