Im From The UK, Are The Maple Shell A Better Type Of Shell To The Fiber Glass Shells ? What Type Of Drum Kit Would This Be ? Beginneers, Intermediate Or Pro ?Any idea if the price would vary to the Fiber Glass Shell Kits ? Dave
The FG, W-FG, and later Maple shells were marketed as "Pro" drumsets. They are of very good quaility. I've owned a set of Pearl's W-FG line since bought new in 1978. I took good care of them -- but they are still in just about as close to new condition as possible.
My only "gripe" with mine is that they are HEAVY to haul around. The FG shells were lighter, but I have very little experience with the maple shells. I do have a couple of 16x24 Pearl maple shell bass drums and they are NOT as heavy as my 14x22 W-FG BD (mine maples are out of the mid-80s).
I don't know what your market is like over there, but if these were in my "stock," I'd be asking around $600 + shipping. Probably eventually take less, but I'd wouldn't be in a rush, either.
Just my 2 cents. Hope somebody else jumps in here, too...
