15 X 14 LUDWIG Tom Last viewed: 1 second ago

I have this 15 X 14 LUDWIG Tom shell, 6-ply, Small classic lug, Wrapped in Chrome. I think it was originally a concert tom that was drilled and concerted into a tom. Here's the thing. It's 20 Lug. 10 on top, 10 on bottom. And it originally had the small clip style mount on the side with a pointed B/O Badge. I'm going to restore it. Does Anyone have any idea what year this might be. I'm trying to find a badge to put with it that's close to the same time period. Here's a pics.

Trust me the imprint in the chrome shows a pointed B/O Badge not Rounded.

I've got a couple of orphans like yours (for the most part). 6-ply shells, chrome wrap, pointy B/O badges. One is a 16x16 FT, 8 lug. The other is 13x14, which would seem to be kin to yours. It is also of the 10 lug variety (actually 20 -- 10 batter, 10 resonant), but mine has the large classic lugs instead of the small classic lugs, so I'm not sure what the deal is on yours. I can't find one like yours in any of the available catalogs.

I do have a 12x15 Ludwig Marching drum that has the small classic lugs, but it's of the 8 (16) lug variety. So again, I'm not sure what the deal is on yours... could it be that it was supposed to have the smaller Ludwig Standard/Rocker type of lugs?

One of my 6 ply kits has small classic lugs, the other 2 have large ones. All toms (Power sizes) have more lugs than what is considered normal. The 12's & 13's have 8 lugs top & Bottom, the 14's & 15's have 10 per side. A friend of mine had a 16 x 15 mounted tom from the early 80's and it had 10 per side. My floors only have 8 per side..

Once again, when it comes to Ludwig, anything goes or is possible...

This one I'm sure use to be a concert tom And someone drill it out. It had the small clip style mount on the side.

Don't be so sure. All of my toms had the clip mount from the factory and they have always been double headed...

Again, when it comes to old Ludwig, anything is possible....

YES. Ludwig has done a LOT of funny things down through the years, especially (it seems to me) with anything associated with what they offered in their school lines!
