Hey guys, give me a hand. Take a look at this clip with SJ.

Is this snare a Ludwig Downbeat? If so, I may have to get one.

And while we're at it, anyone know what THIS snare might be?

That first video sure looks like a downbeat to me. Sounds great too. I had a 6 lug 3x13 model and it didn't sound that good by any means. I almost wonder if he had the edges redone or something. Much "crackier" than what I had. No idea on the second drum.

Thanks for sharing the vids, those were great.

He's a great player for sure. I was even thinking it could be a 4x14 Downbeat in the first one?

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I've noticed these are tough to find though! I'd love to find out the snare in the 2nd video...had a nice looser sound to it. But that Downbeat is funky!

I had a 4x14 1960 Downbeat that I sold because I had not developed the appreciation for that vintage sound that I now have. I now regret that sale.

It would be nice to see that same drum back on the shelf.

Yep looks like a 4x14 to me. I've watched that video a few times, awesome stuff. I like that little Beatles part where he's playing 8th notes on the bass drum.

First vid looks like 6 lugs to me...therefore couldn't be a Downbeat.

My guess is Jazz Combo
