Radio King 7x14 thoughts

Loading...

I may have a chance to grab a 7x14 radio king at a pretty decent price. Anyone have experience with one? Is it worth getting?

I have right now a 5.5x14 RK already, but considering grabbing this 7x14. I have two Yamaha maple drums in this size, but they are both ply drums so imagine they sound different. I already own 13 snares (wood and metals) but if the Radio King 7x14 is worth having I may get it.

Thoughts? And this would be used as a players drum, and hopefully would be seeing recordings in the future.

They have a certain sound, as you have no doubt already experienced with your other RK. I have a 5" and 7" RK and the 7 sounds familial, with more "woof". There is more body to the sound it produces, but not so much that i couldn't be happy with just the 5". Any chance to enjoy a nice players drum sounds cool to me!

Cool. I'll probably end up just sticking with the 5" RK since I have so many snares now in my collection...both new and vintage...It would be nice though I'm sure.

With the wonderful RKs, I think twice at any opportunity to cherish a piece of history. Personally, I think you should pick it up and if it doesn't end up suiting you, sell it here to someone that you know would.:p

I talked to the guy and I decided that I'd get it. It's a rewrap but otherwise original and good shape. The wrap looks authentic. It may be later this week but I'll post pics once I get it...thanks for the feedback!

This is a cloud badge and 1 ply!

I have a 7x14 RK.Aluminum cloud badge,in WMP.Its the Super Gene Krupa, and it does have that kind of honk and woof(very technical I know)to its sound.I don't play it nearly as much as I should, because its all original, down to the last screw, and I guess i'm afraid of breaking something.A little silly really.Buy the drum, you won't regret it.:)

Nice! Play that drum man! Drums are meant to be played! I'm looking forward to adding this one...heard so many great things and I already have a 5.5x14 version.
